Nivendan (13) of Sothupakkam in Maduranthagam is a student of a private school in Acharapakkam. On Tuesday morning, Nivendan was travelling to school on the government bus to Achurapakkam. Police said the bus was overcrowded and more than 10 school students were forced to travel on the footboard. When the bus was on the way to Achurapakkam, Nivendan who was travelling on the steps lost his grip and fell on the road. Soon, other students shouted for help and the driver stopped the bus immediately.

The local people who gathered on the spot demanded that more buses should be operated on the Acharapakkam route during the peak hours to avoid these accidents.
