Probe corruption charges against 2 cops: HC to Washermenpet DCP

CHENNAI: Justice N Sathish Kumar of Madras High Court directed the deputy commissioner of police, Washermenpet range to conduct an investigation on a corruption charge made against an Inspector and Sub-Inspector of police in Washermenpet police station.

The judge passed the order on disposing of a petition filed by V Sudhakar of Tondiarpet in Chennai. The petitioner sought a direction to DVAC to conduct an investigation against two cops named Beer Basha and Guna Sekaran for demanding a bribe of Rs.1 lakh when the former approached them for lodging a complaint.

The petitioner submitted that one Mohan had borrowed Rs 2 lakh from him. When Sudhakar asked Mohan to return the money, the latter gave fake gold jewels to sell and take his money. However, Sudhakar found that gold jewels were gold covering.

Therefore, the petitioner approached Washermenpet police to file an FIR. However, the police allegedly demanded bribe and the same was videographed by the petitioner. The said video was submitted before the court in a sealed cover.
