Malaysia-based foundation honours Egmore MLA with award

CHENNAI: Egmore MLA E Parandhaman was presented with the ‘Pride of Humanity’ award this year by Take Care International Foundation at Kuala Lumpur, on Thursday. Parandhaman, who is also the Joint Secretary of DMK Legal Wing, was presented the award for his humanitarian work in providing homes for people who lived on platforms. Following reports that 59 families were homeless and residing on platforms in Gandhi-Irwin road near Egmore Railway Station, Parandhaman took the issue to the knowledge of the Chief Minister MK Stalin and arranged homes for all the families under the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB) tenements in KP Park in Pulianthope.
