Cops nab woman for snatching chains from devotees using CCTV camera
While browsing CCTV cameras in the temple, they found a young woman snatching chains from the women during the rush.
CHENNAI: Police arrested a 25-year-old woman in Chengalpattu, who allegedly snatched gold chains from women visiting the temple on Friday. As many as 7 women lost their gold chains on 1 August, when they attended the festival at the Melakottaiyur Amman temple. They filed a complaint at the Thalambur police station. While browsing CCTV cameras in the temple, they found a young woman snatching chains from the women during the rush. Soon, a special team arrested Pandieeshwari of Manimangalam and recovered 47-sovereigns of gold ornaments from her. During inquiry, police found that Pandieeshwari, along with 3 women, was involved in chain snatching on that day. The police have registered a case and a search is on to nab other women who are missing. Police said Pandieeshwari already has a case pending against her in Selam.
