Man beaten to death near Marina beach, probe under way
Police suspect that his friends themselves could have murdered him in a drunken brawl and have launched a hunt for him.
CHENNAI: Marina police have launched a hunt for the suspects in connection with murder of a man on the beach on Sunday.
The deceased, Pachayappan of Triplicane, was found lying unconscious behind the Kannagi statue on Sunday morning and was rushed to the Government Royapettah Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
While police initially could not identify him, inquiries later confirmed that he was Pachaiyappan and that he was consuming liquor with a few others at Marina beach. Police suspect that his friends themselves could have murdered him in a drunken brawl and have launched a hunt for him.
Police said that the deceased was addicted to liquor and have even given interviews to YouTube channel supporting liquor consumption.
