Denied entry to bar, college student rams hotel gate with car, drives away with it
On information, St Thomas Mount traffic investigation police rushed to the spot and secured the college student. He was produced before the magistrate on Monday and remanded in judicial custody.
Chennai: A 20-year-old college student who was irked as he was denied entry into a bar, crashed his car into the gates of a star hotel in Guindy and drove away with it for a distance. He was arrested by the traffic police.
The youth, identified as Akash Ravichandran of Chengalpattur, has been staying in Mogappair to pursue college, said police. The incident happened on Sunday evening when Akash reached the hotel on GST Road near Kathipara junction with a few relatives.
The security manager of the hotel allegedly demanded his Aadhaar and denied him entry since he was not 21. Infuriated over this, Akash, who was already drunk, tried to drive out of the hotel at a maddening speed, leaving his relatives there, and crashed into the heavy metal gate at the entrance. The gate which came off from the hinges was
stuck to the car, which went for a distance before hitting the median and coming to a halt.

Police said that vehicular movement on the stretch was relatively lesser since it was a Sunday.
