Two EB workers electrocuted in Kancheepuram, 2 others in city
A Tangedco lineman and his helper were electrocuted while they were on the way to a village near midnight to rectify a fault that was reported after the power lines were cut by heavy rain near Kancheepuram. In another incident, two workers were electrocuted in Pulianthope on Saturday.

According to officials, heavy rains on Friday night led to power cuts in several places in Kancheepuram. S Bakiyanathan (48) of Paruthikulam village, a lineman at the White Gate substation who was on night shift, attended to the complaints along with K Dayalan (42) of Injambakkam village, a contract staff.
The duo went to Injambakkam around midnight following a complaint and reportedly waded through a waterlogged farm in the village unaware that an overhead live wire had snapped and fallen in the water. They died on the spot, said the police.
As the power connection did not resume until morning and with no response from Dayalan, his brother, Gopi, went in search and found them dead with burn injuries in the farmland. The Baluchetty Chatiram police sent the bodies for autopsy to Kancheepuram government hospital.
Two workers electrocuted in Pulianthope
Meanwhile, two workers were electrocuted while they were trying to clear the stagnant water in a fence-making unit in Pulianthope on Saturday. When M Arumugam (48) of Vyasarpadi and P Mohan (68) of Kannikapuram reported for work around 9 am, the unit was knee-deep under storm water due to rains. They decided to clear the water themselves. A few minutes later, neighbours found them lying unconscious in the water and alerted the fire control room. A team from Vyasarpadi TNFRS station rushed to the spot and found out that they had died of electrocution.
