The deceased, identified as Vijay Kumar Gosan Lal Jain (45), was Jayamala’s husband Sheetal Kumar’s paternal uncle’s son, said the police. Around 7 am, he jumped from the third floor of an apartment in a gated community on Cochrane Basin Road in Korukkupet. Vijay Kumar, a financier, had visited his cousin Ramesh within the apartment complex on Monday night and allegedly lamented about being helpless over Jayamala’s allegations against him. Vijay Kumar had also recorded a video that was shared it with his friends and relatives, in which he accuses the police of grilling him based on false allegation. He returned to Ramesh’s house in Q block from where he jumped to death.

On information, a team from RK Nagar police station rushed to the spot and sent his body to Government Stanley Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.

Suicide note on video

In the 91-second-long video that later went viral on social media, Vijay Kumar alleged that he and his son-in-law, Hemanth, were questioned by the police based on Jayamala’s ‘false allegations’.

“I, Vijay Kumar Jain, in all my senses, want to state that it is my wish and my will that the whole country knows of whatever has happened to our family 10-12 days ago. My uncle, my aunt and their son Sheetal died and the six people, who have killed them, are also known to the whole country. We are unable to cope with the huge loss that our family has been facing, but the accused in the case are now coming up with false accusations against my son-in-law Hemant and me.

“Even the six accused who killed my family members would not have been subjected to such kind of interrogation by the police. I request everyone from the Jain community, who know me and Hemant Jain, and all those who know our behaviour, to save our family. My daughter… whole family is scared. I request everyone to support and save our family,” he said in the video.

However, when contacted, officials said that he was summoned for inquiry only on Tuesday and claimed he was not interrogated earlier.

Dali Chand, wife Pushpa Bhai and their son Sheetal Kumar were shot dead on November 11. So far, police have arrested seven persons, including Sheetal’s estranged wife, Jayamala, and her brothers Kailash and Vilash.
