History-sheeter hacked to death by 4-member gang

A 38-year-old man, who was allegedly involved in several criminal cases including murder and murder attempts, was hacked to death by a group of men near his house in Chengalpattu on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as R Vimal of Anjugam Nagar in Chengalpattu. According to the police, Vimal was an accused in two murder cases and many attempts to murder cases. The victim was living with his mother, Padma.

After finishing his dinner on Friday night, Vimal was standing outside the house when four men came there on two bikes. Realising that his life was in danger, Vimal tried to run away. However, the men chased and caught up with him, and then hacked him repeatedly with sickles. Vimal died on the spot with grievous injuries, while the gang escaped from there immediately.

After being alerted about the incident, a team of personnel from the Chengalpattu Town police station arrived at the spot. They sent Vimal’s body for post-mortem examination to the Chengalpattu government hospital. The police have registered a case and further investigation is on to identify and nab the killers. They are also investigating when it was a revenge attack.
