A wage worker from Chinna Colony in Maduranthagam had filed a complaint with the Maduranthagam police that his 16-year-old daughter was missing for the past few days. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and Chengalpattu SP Kannan formed a special team to trace the missing girl.

Police found Latha (25) and Baskar (23), siblings from Madurai, were living in a rented house as their neighbour and though they vacated the house recently, they were found in the locality on the day the girl went missing. Following that the special team, with the help of Madurai police, traced their mobile number and tracked the location to a village near Madurai.

The police, who went to Madurai, found the siblings in a small house with the girl locked inside a room. The police rescued the girl and during the inquiry, Latha and Baskar told police that they were trying to involve her into prostitution to make money. Police found that Ramu (27) of Madurai had also helped in kidnapping the girl. Police arrested all the three and remanded them in judicial custody.
