Bid to pass on pen drive to jailed fundamentalist, 2 held

The two allegedly handed over the pen drive while Kichan Buhari was waiting outside the court building with other 18 suspects in the case.

"Prisoners are usually allowed to interact with suspects when they are produced in the court. As the two men were talking to Kichan Buhari, one of them handed over a pen drive to him. However, it was immediately noticed by the escort police team and the pen drive was seized immediately. The two were arrested by Poonamalee and let off on personal bail," sources said.

The content of the pen drive is not immediately known. "Its content will be analysed by a forensic expert and only after that only we will know details about the data in the digital dossier," said police sources adding that with Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Tamil Nadu around the corner police doesn't want to leave any stone unturned.

All the accused in the Melapalayam case - in which explosives seized from a house in July 2013 - were present in the court on Wednesday for framing of charges.
