Chennai airport police, which registered a case, has summoned one Anish of Dindigul, who had sent the parcel, declaring it as a toy, in connection with the seizure of the firearm. The security personnel noticed the gun during scanning of parcels, meant for loading in a Kolkata bound private aircraft on Saturday evening. As scanning machine beeped, alerting the presence of possible dangerous object inside the parcel, security personnel opened and checked it. During the inspection, they found a gun. As carrying or sending gun via parcels are illegal, the gun was immediately handed over to the airport police by the officials.

The parcel was part of a consignment from a courier agency. It was booked by Anish who has been summoned by the police along with the courier agent, who had booked the parcel.

When contacted over phone, Anish had informed the police that it was only an airgun and he has a licence to use such guns.
