    Notable music composer AR Rahman has been sent a notice by Madras High Court for an alleged tax evasion of over Rs 3 crores.

    Income Tax department was the pliant that moved the High Court.

    Taxmen have alleged that the composer has directly hoarded money to the tune of 3.47 crore rupees to his charitable trust AR Rahman Foundation, the payment from Libra mobiles.

    IT department had said the UK-based mobile company had signed a contract with Rahman in the assessment year 2011-12 to make ringtones for the company for over a period of three years and that he asked the company to directly make the payment to his trust.

    Bench headed by Justice TS Sivagnanam and Justice Bhavani Subbaroyan has ordered the notice to AR Rahman.
