Nine youngsters arrested with 9 kg ganja, hunt on for 4 more
The Virugambakkam police arrested nine men in possession of nine kg ganja and have launched a hunt for four others.

Based on a tip-off, the police secured four youngsters waiting in front of a hotel on Arcot Salai on Sunday and seized ganja from them. With their inputs, three others were picked up first and two others were secured from another location.
They were identified as Prithvi, Prasanth, Abdul Razaq, Ezhilarasan, Sai Sudan, Hari Ganesh, Rahul, Yuvaraj and Vijay. Investigation revealed that all of them were friends from school and often get together to smoke up ganja. "In order to get ganja for free, they also doubled up as peddlers," said Inspector Nandini, whose team secured the gang.
Nine mobile phones, two bikes and Rs 6,000 in cash were also seized from them. All of them are graduates and most of them are working, said the police.
The inspector said that they received ganja from a main dealer and peddled it to their customers. "The four main suspects would be nabbed soon," said the official.
The nine men were remanded in judicial custody on Monday. Meanwhile, the Kasimedu police seized four kg ganja.
On Sunday, city police Commissioner Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal said that 800 kg ganja has been seized from peddlers in the city in the last two months.
