City likely to receive more rains today
The city received thunderstorms and heavy rainfall on Tuesday night and the wee hours of Wednesday morning. According to officials at the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, rains would continue in Chennai for the next 24 hours.

On Wednesday, the rainfall recorded at Meenambakkam was 17 mm, while the station at Nungambakkam recorded 10.1 mm. The maximum temperatures recorded at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam were 34.6 degree C and 33.8 degree C respectively, while the minimum temperatures were 26.5 degree C and 25.5 degree C.
Chennai can expect some light rainfall over the next 24 hours. “The conditions look good for rains in the following days. However, don’t expect widespread rains. Some spells here and there are expected,” said Pradeep John, the popular weather blogger who runs the Facebook page Tamil Nadu Weatherman. The sky condition is expected to be cloudy across the city.
On Wednesday, light to moderate rains were recorded at Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts, and light rain is predicted at Chennai, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Salem, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri over the course of the day, said weathermen. The Nilgiris is also expected to see heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
