    Man kidnapped, thrashed as employer fails to repay loan

    Even as the complete lockdown was imposed on Sunday, a five-member gang kidnapped a man from Koyambedu and attacked him in Ambattur, claiming that his employer did not return Rs 2 lakh he had borrowed. CMBT police have detained a few suspects.

    The victim, C Murugan (25) of Vandavasi, is the driver of a catering service company in Koyambedu. He was sent by his manager, Ravi, to receive an advance for an order on Sunday afternoon. However, Murugan who waited near the Rohini theatre complex, was kidnapped in a car in broad daylight and was taken to the crematorium in Ambattur. Claiming that his boss, Shyam, has been delaying the payment of Rs 2 lakh he had borrowed from them, the gang thrashed Murugan. Later, he was dropped near his office around 10 pm. Murugan informed his manager and was admitted to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for treatment. Based on his complaint, CMBT police have registered a case and secured a suspect identified as M Karthik (25) of Ayapakkam. Based on his confession, a few more suspects were secured. Further investigation is on.
