These food deliverers cater to the hungry in Central and North Chennai
Robin Hood Army, a zero-funds organisation that serves surplus food from restaurants and the community for the underprivileged, has pledged to serve 30 million meals under its #Mission30M initiative in India’s rural and urban areas and across 10 countries (Bahrain, Botswana, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Uganda) with 50,000 volunteers by August 15.

#Mission30M is one of the largest food relief efforts, bringing together corporates and volunteers across countries to serve staple food to under-developed rural pockets, orphanages, old-age homes, homeless people, ailing patients, and daily labourers across the country. Mission30M has been launched in the wake of COVID-19, where millions have lost their basic means of livelihood and are facing the starkest hunger problem in recent history. Encouraging more people to contribute meals or join the Robin Hood Army, Archit Kohli, Robin since 2016 in the city, says, “Chennai is in dire need of at least 5-6 lakh meals. Some of the most affected pockets are in central and north Chennai inhabited by fishermen, daily labourers and migrant workers. We believe we can achieve this if we have more people working with us in tandem. The local authorities support us and it would be great if we have more hands working for the common good.”
