Anna flyover to remain open during nights

Senior traffic police officials, after inspecting the Anna Flyover, decided to keep it open during the night as the service lines on both the sides — Teynampet and Thousands Lights — could confuse the motorists, who are not familiar with the area.

“We opened Anna flyover in the night from Saturday onwards,” said N Kannan, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Chennai city.

Traffic police officials are also checking other flyovers in the city to understand the difficulty faced by motorists if they are closed in the night.

Though the policy on the closure of flyovers during the night is taken based on the belief that motorists tend to drive in a rash manner on flyovers during the night, some heads of city police had kept all the flyovers open during the night without causing trouble to law-abiding motorists.
