Obscene comments posted during KV school’s online session, probe on
The Anna Nagar cybercrime cell is investigating a case in which obscene comments were passed on-screen during an online class session conducted by Kendriya Vidyalaya School.
Chennai
This is the first case for the newly formed Anna Nagar cybercrime unit, one of the 12 such stations that started functioning in the city recently. The complaint was initially lodged by the school principal at the Rajamangalam police station, which was later shifted to the cybercrime unit for a detailed probe.
According to the police, the incident happened on July 28 when online class for Class 9 was in progress. “It looks like some outsider has got the login details and could have logged in when the class was going on. The person illegally entered the online class and started making obscene comments. School officials claimed that students were not involved. However, we are probing all angles,” said police officials.
A case has been registered under the provisions of IT Act and probe is on, officials said. Highlighting such risks, a mother of two school-going children had approached the High Court earlier in June alleging that explicit content was popping up when her children were attending virtual classes conducted by their school, an institution in Korattur.
