Anna University has finally released the much-awaited affiliated colleges’ list. This will enable engineering aspirants to make their choice of institutions in Tamil Nadu for this academic year.

The Anna University’s decision to upload the names of its affiliated colleges across the State on its portal came against the backdrop of request from both students and parents. “List of institutions, courses and number of seats in each course affiliated to Anna University for the academic year 2020-21 as on July 31 are available on https://www.annauniv.edu/caiOptions.php,” a senior staff of the university told DT Next on Saturday.
However, he said that a few institutions, opting for affiliation to the university, have not submitted the statutory documents including All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Council of Architecture (COA), Directorate General of Shipping (GGS) approval and relevant documents for the grant of affiliation.
“Those institutions’ list will be updated on the portal as and when the statutory documents are received, after fulfilling the norms of the university,” he said adding the last date for the grant of affiliation by the university is August 15, 2020, as per the revised guidelines of AICTE.
According to him, students could view colleges region-wise and district-wise, such as Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchy, Madurai and Tirunelveli, on the portal. Candidates can also get college information in alphabetical order.
On the delay in listing the affiliated colleges, the spokesperson said that due to the spread of coronavirus and lockdown across India, the grant of affiliation by the university to the colleges was extended up to June 30.
“Most of the colleges submitted AICTE, COA and DG approval to the university only before the first week of June,” he said adding “in the mid of June, the university has sent appropriate mail to the individual institutions”.
However, he said the university will send an inspection committee to verify the data provided by affiliated colleges only after the start of academic activities.
