    In what comes as yet another shocking piece of news to Chennai residence, as many as 16 people from the capital city have lost their lives to the ongoing pandemic COVID 19 on Tuesday.
    This comes after the Tamil Nadu government announced that the number of patients who recovered from the virus in the state crossed 1.6 lakh. Comparing to other districts in Tamil Nadu, Chennai still continues to be the worst affected with an alarming increase in the number of infected people. The active cases in Chennai stand at 13,064 while 1,821 persons were discharged on Monday.
    Around 95,857 people in Chennai tested positive and nearly 80,000 patients got discharged. Out of 16 deceased, 9 patients were receiving treatment in RGGGH, 4 were receiving treatment in Kilpauk Government hospital and 2 from Omandurar government medical college. One patient died at a city private hospital.
