Containment zones in Chennai reduced to 81, with 13,941 active cases

According to the Chennai Corporation data, the recovery rate has been increasing for the past month.

The city reported a total of 89,561 positive cases, of which 73681 patients have recovered so far. As many as 13,941 cases are still under treatment.

According to the corporation officials, around 188 zones were declared as containment zones till last week. Since there are no new infections in few restricted zones, the curbs have been lifted and the number of containment zones has come down to 81. 

According to data released by the Greater Chennai Corporation, Anna Nagar zone has the most number of corona positive patients seeking treatment and Royapuram zone, which was earlier the worst hit, has no containment areas, which shows a positive sign of hope.

Tondaiyarpet zone (zone 4) is the second least contained areas with only one street declared restricted, Thiru.Vi. Ka Nagar has 4 wards, Ambattur has 8 wards and the highly affected Anna Nagar has 27 wards sealed.
