A 23-year-old son of a policeman, who questioned a gang involved in drug peddling, was hacked by a group of men in Ambattur on Thursday night and is fighting for his life in a hospital. The victim was identified as M Yuvaraj, a resident of Shanmughapuram and son of traffic police special sub-inspector, Mahesh. Yuvaraj runs an agency of building materials including cement in the locality. Police said a five-member gang attacked Yuvaraj on Thursday night. He was found in a pool of blood and was taken to Kilpauk Medical College by his brother. The attack was believed to be an act of vengeance by the ganja peddlers as Yuvaraj had been at loggerheads with the gang for weeks now. The gang members believed that Yuvaraj had been informing the police about their activities. Police have rounded up five youths from near Ambattur lake and are questioning their role in attack.
