Rains across the State bring down vegetable prices
The showers that hit various parts of the State over the last few weeks have brought down the prices of vegetables, said traders in the city, adding that this is likely to go down even further if Tamil Nadu received more rains in the coming days.

“The rains in the city have led to a dip in prices in the city. This is likely to continue based on the weather in the State. This is a welcome relief amid the shutdown imposed due to the pandemic,” said P Sukumaran, secretary, Koyambedu Wholesale Market Merchants’ Association.
Ladies finger price has dropped to Rs 15, beans to Rs 25, and potatoes to Rs 20 this week. Sources in the market said fruit prices are also expected to follow the same trend.
Vendors are hoping that the easing of the shutdown restrictions after July 5 would provide them more flexibility in carrying out their business, which was hit hard by the lockdown.
