Chengalpattu Municipal Commissioner tests +ve
The Chengalpattu Municipal Commissioner, R Tito, tested positive for the virus and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai.

Sources said that he went to the Chennai Medical College for testing and the result came on Friday. Meanwhile, Lydia, an employee at the municipal office was also tested positive and admitted to the Chromepet government hospital on Friday.
Following this, the Chengalpattu municipality office was sanitised and people who were in close contact with the infected persons have been quarantined.
16 police officers infected
With 16 more police personnel testing positive for coronavirus on Friday, the total number of persons affected by the virus in the department reached 800 in the city and 1,100 in Tamil Nadu. Among the 16, two were women inspectors of different units and Tirumullaivoyal inspector, police sources said.
It may be noted that Ayanavaram and Ice House police stations were sanitised after more than a dozen police personnel tested positive there. After a policeman tested positive, the Sholavaram police station in Tiruvallur district has been shut temporarily to sanitise the building.
So far, 321 police personnel in the city have rejoined duty after completing the treatment for COVID. As the number of COVID infected police personnel has been going up, senior officials issued a message on social media asking them to take necessary precautions.
On Friday, 35 personnel of Tamil Nadu Railway Police returned to duty after completing treatment. Railway police DGP C Sylendra Babu welcomed them with appreciation certificate, fruit basket and PPE kit. “As of now, there are no virus-infected persons in TN railway police,” Sylendra Babu said.
