NGT asks TNPCB for expert report
The National Green Tribunal Southern Bench has directed the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) to give the copy of the report prepared by an IIT Madras professor, who was deputed to ascertain the effectiveness of the zero liquid discharge (ZLD) system, to the private firm.

The firm submitted that if the copy of the report was given to them, they could consider and take necessary steps to implement the ZLD system more effectively.
The firm said that the professor had submitted the report to TNPCB on April 26, but the copy has not been given to them. Countering this, counsel for Tamil Nadu government and TNPCB opposed the application, submitting that it was not maintainable.
Disposing of the petition, the bench said that they feel it appropriate to allow the application and direct the TNPCB to give the copy of the report submitted by the IIT professor, along with direction if any, for further implementation of any improvement in the ZLD system immediately so that the firm could try to implement it and make the system effective.
