The group of 200 idli vendors, who had moved to Mumbai to work in small eateries, had been unemployed for a couple of months and they were also unable to get trains or buses to return. On hearing about their plight, Sood organised for private buses to transport them back. The grateful workers also honoured him by performing a traditional aarti. The actor’s good deed was reported on social media, with a video that showed Sood putting the food vendors on a bus. A few women thanked him by performing an ‘aarti’ which he acknowledged with folded hands. He also broke a coconut as a gesture of good luck so they would have a safe journey back.

Last week, he helped 177 girls who were migrants working in Kerala to get back home to Odisha by a special chartered flight. Sood arranged for permissions for the aircraft to be flown from Kochi to Bhubhaneshwar so the girls could return. “We got to know about these girls stranded in Kerala. We found out their phone numbers and assured them of help,” he said.

His deeds have been appreciated by the CMs of many States who have personally thanked him for his humanitarian gestures. On Saturday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat thanked Sood for sending migrant workers stuck in Mumbai to Uttarakhand by a chartered flight and invited him to visit the hill state when the coronavirus crisis is over.
