According to airport officials, passenger traffic had been much lower than usual since Monday and only flights to New Delhi and Port Blair had a reasonable number of passengers.

On Thursday, only 19 departures and 19 arrivals of flights were scheduled compared to the 42 flight services operated on Wednesday. “Number of services was reduced to 38 on Thursday due to lack of passengers. Most of the flights operated with less than 50 passengers,” an official said.

Flights to Salem and Kadapa began on Wednesday but both had to be cancelled on Thursday while services to Kolkata resumed on Thursday. There is still no service to Mumbai.
