Teen girl, 2 boys drown in lake near Minjur
Two schoolboys drowned in a pond in front of their mother and a college girl who tried to rescue them also died after getting stuck in the puddle near Minjur on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as S Sheela (18), B Jaiprasanth (10) and his brother B Kunal (7) of Sengazhaneermedu village in Tiruvallur district. Police said the siblings went with mother Malathi to a pond, Amaikulam, in the village to wash the clothes. The boys allegedly were playing when they started drowning. Malathi raised an alarm and Sheela, who was passing by, jumped into the pond to rescue them. But she too got stuck in the puddle and drowned.
The villagers who rushed to the spot could retrieve their bodies only. Kattur police sent the bodies to Ponneri GH for post-mortem. Police said the boys’ father Bhaskar works as a supervisor at a Tasmac shop.
Class 12 boy drowns near Red Hills
In a similar incident, a 17-year-old boy drowned in a well near Red Hills on Thursday. The deceased R Muralidharan of Pammadukulam, who was awaiting Class 12 results, had gone to the well to bathe with friends.
