Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan, before whom the plea came, observed that the petitioner had committed a very serious offence and added that the court was not inclined to grant him bail.
As per the case, Nithyanandam of Aminjikarai had proposed to the 13-year-old girl, who stayed in the same building where he was living. After being troubled by him repeatedly, the girl had complained to her parents, who warned him. On March 4, when the girl was along at home, Nithyanandam went to her house and attacked the girl using a knife, leaving her with injuries on her neck.
By the time neighbours rushed after hearing her loud cries, he managed to escape from the spot. But the city police nabbed him a day later.
Based on a complaint, he was booked under sections part of Pocso Act and IPC. He claimed that he was not involved in the offence and that he has been in judicial custody from March 5.
