Not willing to get married, doctor commits suicide

A 35-year-old doctor committed suicide by drowning in the sea off Marina beach on Friday.

The deceased Mallikarjun of Virugambakkam is working at a private hospital in the city. While his family members wanted him to get married, he allegedly was unwilling, which led to quarrel among themselves over the last week.

Dejected over his parents’ decision, the doctor reached Marina beach in his Audi car and parked it near the lighthouse. After sending a message to his younger brother about his decision, he asked him to take care of their parents and sent him the location of the car to take the vehicle back.

Even before his brother rushed to Marina beach, Mallikarjun’s body washed ashore. On information, Marina police retrieved his body and sent it to Omandurar Government Hospital for postmortem.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
