Puzal prison offers masks at Rs 10 per piece

According to senior jail officials, masks can be purchased in bulk by private hospitals, corporates, other agencies and the public from various central jails across the State.

"We have enough stock now to sell it through Freedom Bazaars," noted DGP Sunil Kumar Singh when DT Next contacted him. So far, inmates of various prisons have produced more than eight lakh masks for government employees, particularly police personnel and health workers.

Fast-paced production by inmates during lockdown has helped increase the number of masks and the jail authorities have now more than four lakh 3-ply masks ready for sale.
