COVID 19: Partial impact of lockdown in Chennai
Though all services except essential services are ordered to be locked down, shops like small provisional stores and bunk shops were seen open.

A large number of people were out buying essential commodities such as vegetable and grocery in Chennai on Monday following the state government's advisory for a lockdown as part of measures to contain coronavirus. The inter-state bus terminal at Chennai's Pammal stayed partially crowded as only less number of people were waiting for transport.
Though all services except essential services are ordered to be locked down, shops like small provisional stores and bunk shops were seen open.
In Chennai the impact of social distancing was hardly visible on Monday as private vehicles continued to ply as usual. Vegetable and fish markets were crowded.Â
The city's famous Koyambedu vegetable market was functioning without any signs of lock down.Â
Following this, state health minister C Vijayabhaskar has ordered that actions would be taken on people who unnecessarily wander on the streets. Officials have warned people to stay indoors as part of social distancing to combat coronavirus.
