Couple targeted by snatcher hurt after falling from bike

The victims, identified as Mathivanan (65) and his wife Prabhavathi (57), are working as launderers and are residents of School Road in Jafferkhanpet. Mathivanan’s mother is in an old age home in Tiruninravur, said the police. Officials said that Mathivanan was riding the motorcycle and Prabhavathi was riding pillion. On Thursday noon, they were riding on the Vandalur-Nemlicheri Outer Ring Road when an unidentified man on a bike snatched the six sovereign chain from Prabhavathi’s neck and sped away and Mathivanan lost vehicle balance. Both of them fell and sustained injuries. The Pattabiram police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the suspect.
