Tamil Nadu CB-CID sleuths have again taken custody of TNPSC examination scam suspects Jayakumar and Omkanthan for five days on Monday. This is the third time the sleuths are taking their custody. The accused will be grilled to extract more information on their modus operandi used in the 2016 VAO test conducted by the TNPSC.

The investigators have already arrested more than 45 suspects, most of them working in various capacities in government offices after joining different departments by getting selected through malpractices in TNPSC selection process.
The police found that Jayakumar, the mastermind who had been collecting huge sums of cash from aspiring candidates to correct their answer sheets with the help of a few TNPSC staff, was involved in at least three examination malpractices held by the commission.
Investigators had already taken the custody of Jayakumar and TNPSC staff Omkanthan two times earlier to question them in connection with the 2019 Group IV examination and also 2017 Group IIA exam. The police had also arrested four VAOs.
After making a detailed enquiry with the two suspects, the investigators are expected to get more information on the VAOs, if there any, who had secured the job using malpractices.
The TNPSC scam came to light after an unlikely number of candidates, who wrote examinations in two centres in Ramanathapuram, ‘scored’ high ranks in the 2019 Group IV exam.
