Apart from giving a fresh coat of paint with popular cartoon characters drawn on the walls of the school, the compound wall and roof of the two-storey building were repaired. The police also provided 23 fans, 95 chairs, boards and tables, notebooks and sports materials for indoor games, and refurbished the prayer hall and toilets.

A senior officer said that all three stations within the SRMC police range – Porur, Mangadu and Kundrathur – pitched in. Additional Commissioner (North) R Dhinakaran inaugurated the refurbished school on Monday. Ambattur Deputy Commissioner I Easwaran and Assistant Commissioner Sembedu Babu and inspectors of all three stations were also present at the event.

This is the eighth school in the jurisdiction of the Additional Commissioner (North) to be refurbished. “There are about 250 students in the school and the school headmaster said she expects more students to enrol in the coming academic year after the makeover,” said an inspector.
