    Six school students suffered minor injuries after the car in which they were travelling was hit by a government bus near Singaperumal Koil on Wednesday.

    The Police detained the bus driver for enquiry and search is for the missing car driver.


    The car was returning to Thuritheri village from Chengalpattu with the 12 school students of Classes 6 to 8 when the accident happened. Sources said that parents hired private cars to pick up and drop their kids studying in Chengalpettu as there was no proper bus facility in the village.


    The police said a government bus, which was heading to Tiruvanamalai, rammed the car carrying the students and it turned turtle. Onlookers rescued the children before the police could arrive and the six students who suffered minor injuries were taken to Chengalpattu Government Hospital. The Maraimalainagar police, who arrived at the spot detained the bus driver for enquiry and are searching for the missing car driver. Residents, who gathered there, damaged the bus and protested demanding police action.
