The rally is a pre-event for the annual Conquer 2020 event that would be held onAugust 15.

The bike rally was inaugurated by Dr Anitha Ramesh, Founder-CEO, Freedom from Cancer Relief and Research Foundation Association. In her inaugural address, she said, “Each year, more than 3,00,000 children are diagnosed with cancer in the world.”

She added that, “Approximately 8 out of ten 10 children live in low and middle-income countries where their survival rate is near 20 per cent.”

The Target Goal of the WHO Global Childhood Cancer Initiative is to eliminate all pain and suffering of children fighting cancer and achieve at least 60 per cent survival for all children diagnosed with cancer around the worldby 2030.

This represents an approximate doubling of the current cure rate and will save an additional one million children’s lives overthe next decade.
