Despite the large underground parking facility, the commuters were not able to locate the entry to the facility on EVR Periyar Salai due to poor signage to guide passengers.

On January 14, the Chennai Metro throw opened the parking facility for the two-wheelers and cars. The two-wheeler has been charged Rs 10 per hour and car at Rs 25 per hour. The parking fare could be paid only through CMRL card. The parking facility has the capacity to accommodate about 100 cards and as many two-wheelers.

The entry of the parking facility is located on the EVR Periyar Salai but it has a small signage to guide the commuters which is not so visible. “Only those regularly using the Metro station can locate the ramp for the parking facility. Others who are not using the station, will find it difficult to locate the ramp to reach the underground parking,” saida commuter.

A CMRL official said that they have already put up several signages directing the passengers to the Metro station entry point and parking facility. “We are working to improve the visibility of the signage at the Central Metro,” theofficial noted.
