Man kills live-in partner, hangs self at Pallikaranai
A 46-year-old man hanged himself to death after allegedly killing his live-in-partner at his house near Pallikaranai on Friday.
Chennai
The deceased was identified as Suresh, an auto driver of Karkanji Nagar in Pallikaranai. He was a divorcee. His lover, Rani (33) from Guduvanchery, owned a beauty parlour. Rani’s husband passed away and she was living with two children in Guduvanchery.
The police said that Rani became friends with Suresh a few years ago and they were in a relationship. Though Rani was living in Guduvanchery, she stayed in Pallikaranai with Suresh most of the days. On Friday morning, the neighbours noticed Suresh’s house locked for a long time.
On suspicion, they looked through the window and found Suresh hanging from the ceiling and Rani lying on the floor. Soon the Pallikaranai police were alerted and they entered the house after breaking open the door.
The police suspect that Rani developed a relationship with another man recently and Suresh opposed to it. Despite his warnings, Rani allegedly continued her new relationship and told Suresh that she was going to marry the new person, police noted after an initial round of investigation.
The police believe that they fought over this on Thursday night and Suresh, in a fit of rage, suffocated Rani to death using a pillow and hanged himself using a nylon rope. The Pallikaranai police, who registered a case, sent the bodies for post-mortem examination to Chromepet Government Hospital.
