Corpn reclaims Rs 25-crore land in T Nagar
The Greater Chennai Corporation has reclaimed land worth Rs 25 crore in T Nagar from a defunct Ladies Club.

According to a civic body statement, the 20,480 sqft plot was handed over the T Nagar Ladies Club in 1944 to create facilities for women and children. “The plot was put into other uses other than the intended purpose. Also, some claimed the ownership of land illegally,” the release said.
The release added as the club has been defunct since 1976, and the registrar of associations directed the civic body to take possession of the plot. Based on the direction, the civic body reclaimed the land, the press release said.
In October 2019, the civic body had reclaimed Rs 280 crore land from an educational institution in Shenoy Nagar in Anna Nagar. Meanwhile, in August, the officials reclaimed Rs 212 crore worth land in Kotturpuram. The civic body is creating an urban forest, park and play area in Kotturpuram.
