History-sheeter hacked to death by gang in Vyasarpadi

The deceased, S Santhoshkumar of Periyar Nagar, had several cases pending against him at Sembium and MKB Nagar police stations. Police suspect that the victim could have been murdered over some previous enmity.

The incident happened around 8 pm on Friday. Santhoshkumar was standing outside his house when the gang landed there on three bikes, carrying weapons. On noticing them, Santhoshkumar ran into his house, only to be chased by the gang members, who hacked him repeatedly in front of his family members before fleeing the spot.

Shocked family members and neighbours rushed Santhoshkumar to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, but he was declared ‘brought dead’. His body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Police said that the five special squads have already begun investigation and the culprits would be nabbed soon.
