Offering role in film, woman kidnaps baby

The boy, John, is the son of Johny and Ranthosh, a couple from Maharashtra who sells balloons at Marina beach for a living. A woman whom the couple has often seen at Marina beach approached them on Sunday evening claiming that she wanted to feature their child in movies. Believing her, Ranthosh and her mother-in-law took the child with them and followed the woman.

The woman first took them to Government Omandurar Multi Super Speciality Hospital, after which they were taken to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. The woman reportedly told Ranthosh that she needs to change the child’s dress and get a skin test done, and took the boy away.

As she did not return for a long time, Ranthosh approached the police, who combed the CCTV footage and found the suspect leaving the hospital premises with the child. A case has been registered and a hunt has been launched for the woman to rescue the child. The police suspect that the woman could have kidnapped the child for trafficking.
