A three-member gang threatened T Rajender's driver and his friend at knife point and robbed them of a mobile phone and cash at Periamet on Saturday night and police secured one if the suspects within hours.
Lakeshkumar who works as a driver for T Rajendar was returning home from T Nagar after work on Saturday night when his bike broke down near the Madras Veterinary College at Periamet.
He called his friend Javid, a food delivery boy for Swiggy, who came to the spot along with his friend Salman. When they were trying to fix the bike, a three-member gang surrounded them and threatened them at knife point. After relieving them of a mobile phone and Rs 900, the gang asked Salman to buy ganja from a place near the MGR Chennai Central and sent one of their gang members along.

Investigation revealed that he is a history-sheeter at Periamet police station and his accomplices were identified as E Manikandan (26) of Periamet, also a history-sheeter, and Bharath's nephew Mani. Bharath would be remanded on Sunday and a hunt has been launched for the absconding duo.
