NCB seizes 210 kg ganja, one arrested

A statement from A Bruno, zonal director, NCB said that the accused has been identified as 28-year-old C Eshawaran from Theni district. 

“Based on a tip-off, the NCB team intercepted the pick-up van with fake AP registration number and searched it to find 210 kg of ganja concealed with sweet potatoes along with polythene cover,” an official said. 

The contraband was sourced from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha border and a part of it was supposed to be supplied in Chennai, the official said. He added that the suspect was wanted in a similar previous narcotics case. 

In a previous operation NCB team had arrested Natarajan, 54, of Tiruvallur district on December 11 with 3.2 kg of methamphetamine and 25 kg of ephedrine, 270 gm of hashish and 20 tablets of Alprazolam were seized from his house during a search.
