    The Tamil Nadu State Invitational Karate Championship tournament of the Ken-Bu-Kai-Shito-Ryu Karate School of India was held in the V S R Sports Academy at Old Perungalathur recently. Nearly 350 participants from various districts in the State took part in the tournament.

    Kata and Kumite competitions were held for children under various categories for boys and girls based on their age.

    The deputy Commissioner Of Police, St Thomas Mount Division, K Prabhakar and Managing Director of JK Groups J Jayakrishnan, presided over the event and distributed prizes and certificates to winners and participants.

    The event was felicitated by the Founder and Technical Director, Ken-Bu-Kai- Shito-Ryu Karate School of India Renshi M Vijayan and the General Secretary, Ken-Bu - Kai- Shito -Ryu Karate School of India, Tamil Nadu Jayakumar convened the Karate sports meet. Sensei Magesh Kumar, Sensei Suresh Kumar & Sensei Venkatesh along with other instructors also helped in organising the event.

    The first prize in Girls Kumite under 7 years was won by VS Dhakshini of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar. She received a gold medal from Renshi M Vijayan.

    Dhakshini, studying 2nd  grade at Chinmaya Vidyalaya Anna Nagar, learnt Karate from her father Sempai. RV Satheesh Kumar residing at Kamala Garden, Anna Nagar. Her father trains students which piqued her interest in the martial arts from the age of 5.
