Roommate kills 24-yr-old labourer

The deceased, M Murali of Veppampattu, stayed at a rented premise on Muthumariamman Koil street along with three others identified as Sinsun, Subramani and Aravind. All three worked as tile-laying labourers, said police. On Thursday night, Murali’s wallet containing Rs 1,500 and a debit card went missing. When Murali questioned Sinsun over the missing wallet, a quarrel erupted between them. On Saturday night, after the duo consumed liquor together, a fight broke out between them. Sinsun woke up around 3 am on Sunday and smashed Murali’s head with a heavy stone killing him on the spot, police said. Around 3.45 am, he asked Subramani to drop him at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus.

On information, Maduravoyal police retrieved his body and sent it to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. Subramani and Aravind were detained for interrogation. Based on the information they provided that Sinsun boarded the bus to Kanniyakumari, police secured Sinsun near Panruti. He was brought to Maduravoyal police station for questioning.
