In its latest working communique, Tangedco directed the consumers seeking new LT service connection under the group housing projects with more than 20 dwelling units and a combined load of more than 112 kilo watt to submit the application online only. The group housing application would be processed by the concerned executive engineer of the Operation and Maintenance instead of the section officers, it stated.

“This will allow consumers to track the progress and status of their applications online,” a Tangedco official said. He added that after receiving the complete application, the executive engineer should complete the verification process of the documents and carry out field inspection so that the matter is taken care of within three working days from the date of payment of registration fee online.

As per the provisions of the TN Electricity Distribution Code, the official should assess and verify the load details furnished by the applicant and also consider the possible load that would be added in the future to decide the necessity of the land required for establishment of the sub-station or erection of the distribution transformers in the project premises. The estimate and other applicable charges will have to be paid by the applicant within 15 days from the date of receipt of notice or e-mail or SMS from Tangedco.
