Gang of three attacks cop, two arrested
The police nabbed two men, who were part of a three-member gang which attacked a head constable. The policeman was attacked when he questioned the gang for suspiciously wandering on the streets of Shankar Nagar near Pallavaram on Thursday night.

Two men, identified as Manikandan (33) and Gandhi (38) of Pozhichalur were nabbed and a hunt is on for the third person, Inbaraj. The police said that Pauldurai (38) is attached to the Shankar Nagar police station.
Pauldurai is said to have called them to the police station for an inquiry when the trio assaulted him and escaped from the spot. A few passers-by, who noticed the incident, chased and overpowered two men, who were later arrested.
Traffic cop injured
In another incident, a traffic head constable on duty sustained severe injuries after a two-wheeler hit him while trying to stop the rider in Vadapalani on Thursday night. The victim was identified as Govindaraj of traffic enforcement wing at Ashok Nagar. A hunt is on for the biker.
