Constable hit by train suffers fracture to leg
A 46-year-old head constable had a narrow escape after his bike was hit by an express train at Annanur when he was on his way to secure a suspected burglar on Tuesday morning. The policeman suffered a fracture to his leg, said sources.

He was identified as head constable Sounderarajan (46) of Veerapuram near Avadi, attached to Tirumullaivoyal police station. He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, said the police.
The incident happened around 7 am on Tuesday when Sounderarajan went to secure a suspect with a pair of handcuffs after he received a tip-off about his whereabouts. When Sounderarajan tried to cross the railway track near Annanur railway station, an express train from Thiruvananthapuram proceeding towards MGR Chennai Central station rammed his bike.
In the impact, Sounderarajan fell off the bike and suffered a fracture to his leg. The Avadi railway police have registered a case about the accident and further inquiry is on.
